When a device wants to send data to another device on a different network, the router helps route the packets through the appropriate paths until they reach the destination.


Protocols, such as TCP/IP, govern how data is transmitted and received. TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) ensures reliable delivery of data by dividing it into packets, numbering them, and reassembling them at the destination. IP (Internet Protocol) provides addressing and routing capabilities.


Network security is an essential aspect. It involves protecting the network from unauthorized access, data breaches, and malicious attacks. Measures like firewalls, encryption, and access controls are implemented to safeguard the network and its resources.


Understanding computer networks allows us to communicate, share information, and access resources across different devices and locations. It forms the foundation for the internet, enabling worldwide connectivity and the exchange of data.
